Santragachi Jheel or lake is bird lover’s paradise and a feather in the hat of the city of Howrah & West Bengal as a whole.

Santragachi is actually a residential locality, popularly known for Santragachi railway station with a sizeable railway colony. It also has some industries; including a privately owned railway goods wagon making unit. Everything apart it is a peaceful locality with migratory birds as the main attraction for bird and nature lovers.

Birds that can be found here include:

Indian Cormorant, Yellow Bittern, Ferruginous Pochard, Fulvous Whistling Duck, White Wagtail and Citrine Wagtail.
